The Vietnamese Table

A series of Vietnamese delicacies inspired from my travels there. Hand sculpted with clay and composed with elements from other materials like wood, thread and jute, they were framed for a perfect wall-mounted display.
Exhibited: Bankside Gallery, London, Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors & Gravers 2024.

Phở

The fragrant and flavourful noodle soup of rice noodles, aromatic herbs and a rich broth with a side of fresh greens, dipping sauce and a little zing of lemon. The bowls and tableware as well as the food were made with clay, with the noodles nestled in resin ‘broth’. Embroidery thread was weaved to mimic a rattan cane table mat

Gỏi cuốn

The vibrant fresh spring rolls filled with shrimp, rice noodles, lettuce, herbs and delicately wrapped in translucent rice paper, offer a burst of refreshing flavor in every bite. The rolls and salad were made with clay and the plate was of soft wood that was later stained with coffee decoction and pigments.
